Join the UHHS Preservation Action Committee!

About the Committee

Are you passionate about the history of University Heights, educating others about it, and preserving it for future generations? If so, the University Heights Historical Society (UHHS) would like to hear from you! We are seeking 5-7 residents to join our new UHHS Preservation Action Committee. The Committee will plan and execute regular activities to fulfill our mission of research, education, and advocacy for the preservation of historic resources in University Heights.

Committee Responsibilities

The UHHS Preservation Action Committee works to fulfill the mission of the University Heights Historical Society by:

  • Planning, executing, and evaluating committee activities on an annual basis

  • Raising money and resources to support the mission of the UHHS

  • Representing the UHHS at community events

  • Conducting guided walking tours of historic landmarks and historic architecture in University Heights

  • Planning and executing events to educate the public about the history of University Heights

  • Recruiting other volunteers as needed to help execute events

  • Researching and writing blog articles, emails, and social media posts on a regular basis to educate the public about the history of University Heights

  • Identifying and developing new educational materials and products to support the mission of the UHHS

Committee Member Responsibilities

  • Know the history of University Heights

  • Know the mission, programs, and products of the UHHS

  • Fulfill one or more committee responsibilities described above

  • Prepare for and attend bi-monthly committee meetings

  • Serve as an advocate and ambassador for the UHHS

  • Leverage connections, networks, and resources to achieve the mission of the UHHS

Committee Member Qualifications

  • Live in University Heights

  • Passionate about UH history, educating others about it, and preserving it for future generations

  • Able to commit the time and energy to actively participate in the Committee

  • Skilled in two or more of the following areas:

    • Historic research

    • Historic architecture

    • Writing

    • Graphic design

    • Social media

    • Event planning and execution

    • Fundraising

    • Public speaking
